Capitol Bar, Bern
From small dishes to share through to sophisticated cocktails and beer from its own brewery: Those who visit the Capitol can sample, combine, discover, and share. This makes it a place for anyone who takes the view that an apéro should be more than just a pre-dinner drink.
Where sharing is expressly encouraged
In the heart of Bern’s Old City, a bar awaits where shared enjoyment takes center stage. Whether it’s for an apéro or dinner, in the place of conventional starters and mains, the Capitol serves freely combinable dishes in apéro-sized portions. The diners order what’s on the menu as they feel and sample them together with their companions. Whether it’s focaccia, kimchi, black angus rump cap or a cheeseburger – the cuisine is international and constantly evolving. Most of the time, the actual number of dishes is only decided with the last one to be ordered.
Plenty to discover in the glass as well
The concept also includes the perfect accompaniment served in a glass. The beer is from the in-house brewery while the wine list features both classic and surprising selections. The cocktail menu is particularly thrilling: here, the "Pandemonium", with rum, pandan and bitter chocolate meets "An Apple a Day", with whisky, cider and tonka. A variety of whisky, mezcal and other beverages also awaits; brandy is available for tasting. Also good to know: Those who prefer to raise an alcohol-free toast are also spoilt for choice.
