Stars and Stripes, Bern

Whether it’s the kickoff or the first face-off, the vibes at the Stars and Stripes in Bern are akin to a sports stadium. And when the chef fires up the grill, it can be hard to decide between what brings more joy: the highlights on the pitch, the ice rink or the plate.

Spicy barbecue classics with a stadium-like atmosphere

When the 13 big screens are up and running at the Stars and Stripes in Bern, it’s easy to forget where you really are. As soon as the ball, or rather the puck, gets rolling, the atmosphere here is electric. Yet this spacious restaurant in Bern’s Westside mall isn’t just famed for its stadium-like ambiance. Its tasty grilled classics and flawlessly poured craft beer also have their fans. Therefore, what better place to enjoy the upcoming Ice Hockey World Championships or Soccer World Cup? It goes without saying that you’re a little closer to the action when you’re in the stadium. But the arguments for choosing the Stars and Stripes are obvious. Or to put it more clearly: They’re right there on your plate.

What do the guests order, what does the chef love?

If time allows it, the chef would go for spicy Buffalo chicken wings as a starter. As main course, his first choice would be the large wheat tortilla with marinated strips of chicken breast, ratatouille, salsa and melted cheese. And the guests? At present, they are especially fond of the spicy marinated, roasted pork spare ribs with half a corn on the cob and country fries. The Swiss beef burger with tangy cheddar cheese, chipotle cocktail sauce, and country fries is also very popular. The chef is well aware that diners’ tastes can change, though. Yet one thing remains constant: The guests at Stars and Stripes like their food hale and hearty.
