Ristorante Al Giardinetto, Biasca

Some only stop briefly. Many stay longer than planned. And that shouldn’t be surprising: At the crossroads of Leventina, the Blenio Valley and Riviera, Ticino specialties meet Mediterranean classics in the Giardinetto – and regular customers from the local region meet visitors who arrive from every direction.

The art of levity

The Al Giardinetto has been a leading light of the gastronomy scene in Biasca for many years. At lunchtime on its sunny terrace, a plate of polenta is served as naturally as the fresh fish or pasta are at the next table. And perhaps that’s just the secret of this "little garden": Here, no one has to choose between Ticino tradition and Mediterranean cuisine. They simply belong together.

In addition to this is a very impressive selection of Ticino and Italian wines. The only thing that could interrupt the ease of dining here – at least momentarily – is the agony of choice.

It is fortunate that the Ristorante Al Giardinetto also includes a hotel. A nice bonus: American Express Cardholders benefit from a 20% discount on overnight stays with breakfast.

What do the guests order, what does the chef love?

The chef’s personal favorite is the Signature Burger Al Giardinetto: succulent beef in a hamburger bun garnished with cheese from the Croce cheese dairy in the Blenio Valley, mayonnaise, grated Parmesan, leaf salad and fresh tomatoes. A regional interpretation of the classic burger, it is hearty, high-quality and full of flavor.

Certain dishes simply prove to be a hit time and time again. Especially popular with the diners is the Ossobuco di vitello con risotto allo zafferano – tenderly braised veal shank served with creamy saffron risotto. It is a timeless classic of Italian cuisine prepared with great care – and a dish that tastes especially good after a long hike or a drive over a mountain pass.

Restaurant de l'Hôtel de Ville de Crissier

19 GaultMillau points, three Michelin stars, and a reputation that extends beyond borders – all in a place that most people might struggle to find on a map. Crissier may be small-scale. But the food here is anything but.

Restaurant Lago, Horgen

Certain places evoke a vacation feeling before the first glass has even arrived at the table. The Lago in Horgen is one such place – with Italian cuisine, a lakeside location, and a terrace where a summer apéro can easily last longer.
