Le Grizzly, Villars-sur-Ollon
In the rooms and suites of the Chalet RoyAlp Hotel & Spa, you’ll experience five-star alpine charm. What could be cozier? Actually, just one thing: the hotel’s alpine-style restaurant, Le Grizzly.
Alpine indulgence for all the senses
A grand fireplace, wood and stone for as far as the eye can see, and service that combines the elegance of a grand hotel with the warmth of the Vaud region: At Le Grizzly, winter reveals itself from its coziest side. And the atmosphere also finds reflection in the cuisine. The menu is dominated by variations of fondue and raclette, all the way from traditional through to surprisingly creative interpretations.
These classic alpine dishes are complemented by hearty starters and tempting desserts – such as vanilla profiteroles with a molten center of salted Bex caramel and warm chocolate sauce, or a vanilla crème brûlée with pine liqueur and smoked milk ice cream. And one thing is certain: no one has ever left Le Grizzly feeling hungry.
What do the guests order, what does the chef love?
It’s rare to see the head chef himself sitting down for a meal at one of the age-old wooden tables. Yet when he does find the time, he goes all out: "My personal favorite is our fondue with dark Carmine beer," he explains. "The assorted dried meats and Vaudois sausages as a starter." If time is short, he goes for the wood-fired raclette grill from the Le Grizzly fireplace and tops it with gherkins and baby corn in the kitchen. And the guests? "The creamy Périgord truffle fondue is very popular," the chef reveals. Incidentally, the diners also follow his lead when it comes to the starter.
