The "Schlössli" restaurant at the Spisertor in St. Gallen can rightly call itself a Swiss institution. Host Ambros Wirth emphasises the tradition of the castle, which was built between 1586 and 1590. Among other things, the restaurant serves almost forgotten regional classics, such as St. Gallen blue potatoes and Ribelmais corn, with a modern twist.

This regionality runs through the entire menu: whatever is in season in north-east Switzerland is served fresh from the market at the "Schlössli" in St. Gallen. All dishes are characterised by care and sophistication, which also impressed the inspectors of the GaultMillau restaurant guide: They awarded 14 points.
