This is how it works: Set up PayPal with an American Express credit card
To be able to use PayPal with your American Express credit card, you first need a PayPal account. You can create your account via the provider’s app or in the browser and confirm it by phone number in the next step.
Once set up, one or more payment methods can be stored with PayPal: bank accounts, credit cards, debit cards or prepaid cards.
If you have stored several payment methods, you can also set your American Express® Platinum Card, American Express® Gold Card or American Express® Card as your preferred payment source with PayPal. In this way, your credit card account will be debited with the payment amount for PayPal transactions by default.

Look out for the "SafeKey" logo during the payment process. To confirm the transaction, you will receive a code by text message or in the Swisscard app.
