The impressive natural pools in Lavertezzo certainly deserve a mention. They are almost too beautiful to be true. It shouldn’t be surprising, therefore, that many have achieved international fame via TikTok and Instagram. In September, it is noticeably quieter here than in the high summer, and going for a swim in the turquoise waters should be a must.
Taking in all the sights can certainly make you hungry. Luckily, on its way down the valley, after about ten minutes, the number 321 postal bus stops at "Berzona, Rustici" – and almost bang outside the Osteria Paradiso. It’s well worth a visit. Under a pergola covered in grapevines, tasty homemade Ticino specialties are served, many of which are made with local, seasonal ingredients. And there’s a great view of Lake Vogorno to boot.
Two bus stops further on, a very different experience awaits, and one that fans of the movies might well recognize: a bungee jump from the 220-meter-high Verzasca Dam. This is where the spectacular jump in the opening sequence of "GoldenEye" was filmed, a stunt now considered one of the most spectacular in movie history. Those with enough courage are welcome to give the jump a go. Watching is free and, incidentally, almost as nerve-wracking.
After an eventful day in the Verzasca Valley, the Boutique-HOTEL REMORINO in Minusio, just a few minutes from the valley entrance, is a wonderful place for a relaxing stay. Also good to know: American Express Cardholders benefit from a 20% discount on rooms, suites and studios. View the offer here.
