Everything You Need to Know at a Glance

Lake Como in northern Italy captivates visitors with a mix of attractions, including magnificent villas, botanical gardens, and picturesque fishing villages. Highlights include the sophisticated town of Bellagio on the central headland and the romantic village of Varenna with its “Lovers’ Walk.”

While Tremezzo is known for its cinematic backdrops, such as the summer residence “Villa Carlotta,” the city of Como offers historic charm and Mediterranean flair. For travelers seeking tranquility, the towns of Gravedona ed Uniti in the north and the unspoiled Santa Maria Rezzonico are considered hidden gems.

Bellagio: Radiant place on the headland

Bellagio is located on a green peninsula in Lake Como, exactly where the three arms of the lake meet. This small town, considered one of the most beautiful places on the lake, has attracted visitors since Roman times and is characterized by its terracotta roofs and numerous villas. Bellagio is an extremely charming place to combine everyday Italian life, a stylish stroll and a detour into history.

Must-do

Visit the gardens of Villa Melzi, which are full of exotic plants, camellias and rhododendrons as well as artistic statues.

Varenna: Charming fishing village with a romantic atmosphere

Varenna offers a romantic backdrop: The village lies on the eastern shore of Lake Como, just opposite Bellagio, nestled between the lake and the hills. The parish church of San Giorgio, a relic from the Middle Ages, towers in the center.

The narrow streets of this beautiful town on Lake Como invite you to stroll past the colorful houses that line the shore. One of the most beautiful sights in this little town is the botanical garden at Villa Monastero, which was once part of a Cistercian monastery. You can visit the garden and enjoy the stunning views from there.
