Purchase Protection Insurance: protection against damage and theft
How frustrating is it when you treat yourself to something nice, only to realize a few weeks later at home that the item has been damaged – whether it’s a tear in your new coat or a hole in your new bag?
Luckily, the Purchase Protection Insurance included with the Platinum Card, Gold Card and American Express Card covers your purchases for personal use worldwide against damage, theft, burglary, robbery and destruction within the first 90 days.
Prerequisite: At least 50% of the purchase must have been paid for with your American Express credit card. The sum insured is CHF 3,000 for the Platinum Card, CHF 2,000 for the Gold Card and CHF 750 for the American Express Card.
Return Protection Insurance: 90-day guarantee
With Return Protection Insurance, you are guaranteed of being able to return goods up to 90 days after purchase, provided that they are undamaged, unused and in working order. This is a very useful insurance policy for gifts purchased before Christmas that the recipient doesn’t like, for example.
In this context, the following conditions apply: The product must have cost at least CHF 60 and cannot be returned as standard to the retailer within 90 days. In addition, at least half of the purchase price of the product must have been paid for with your credit card for the product to be eligible for Return Protection Insurance.
The sum insured is CHF 3,000 for the Platinum Card, CHF 2,000 for the Gold Card and CHF 500 for the BLUE credit card.
The Extended Guarantee: two-year right of exchange
The Extended Guarantee from American Express enhances your shopping experience: The Gold Card and Platinum Card include a two-year extension of the manufacturer’s guarantee. If damage occurs to an electronic device during this period, the costs of its repair or replacement are covered.
The Extended Guarantee for these premium credit cards is valid in Switzerland, neighboring countries and Luxembourg, provided that at least half of the purchase price was paid with the credit card. The sum insured is limited to CHF 3,000 per year.
Ticket Insurance: refunds in the case of illness, for example
Ticket Insurance is only included with the Platinum Card. It reimburses ticket prices worldwide for events that a person cannot attend, due to illness, or because a delay or the cancellation of a means of transport prevents them from attending a concert, for example.
The sum insured is up to CHF 1,000 per event and a maximum of CHF 2,000 per calendar year. In this case, the ticket must also have been paid for at least 50% by credit card.
