Spa gems far away from the hustle and bustle

Whether it’s cozy and informal or in the exclusive ambience created by a star architect – the view of an impressive mountain panorama alone clears the mind. Anyone sweating in the sauna, relaxing in the pool or enjoying a soothing spa treatment will intensify this effect. An ideal place for this is the award-winning "Bergspa at the La Val hotel" in the tranquil ski resort of Brigels. Here you will find the true luxury of our day and age: peace and quiet. You can also recharge your batteries far away from the crowds in the futuristic "Bergoase spa at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa" designed by Mario Botta. Wow effect included, because you can already imagine you’re in a James Bond film during the trip up in the hotel’s own high-tech cable car. Both spa gems are open to hotel guests and day guests.

Winter hideaways with ski-in ski-out

They do exist, there are places that offer both: an exclusive location off the beaten track and a first-class skiing experience right on the hotel’s doorstep. Unwinding is particularly easy in these places – because these hotels often tower high above everything that reminds us of everyday life. For example, "Chetzeron Crans-Montana" at 2,112 meters above sea level. The former gondola top station with panoramic views from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc has been a design hotel since 2014. Here you start your day of skiing with a run on the freshly prepared piste down to the sun-kissed ski resort of Crans-Montana. In the evening, the gondola takes you back to your refuge. Discover more highlights like this on the list of winter hideaways with ski-in ski-out from "Switzerland Tourism".

Après-ski to suit all tastes

There is no end to the skiing fun – and in between there’s the tempting après-ski. The alpine tradition originated in the 1950s when commercial skiing boomed and is still a fixture for many snow lovers during winter in the mountains. Whether you prefer to sit back and enjoy the spectacular mountain panorama on a sun terrace or pop corks in the valley is a matter of personal preference. Winter in the Swiss mountains offers all this. And if you like discussing how much sport you should do before après-ski over a fondue, you will find the ideal setting for this in the fondue chalet at the "Kempinski Palace Engelberg" hotel. The rustic and glamorous wooden chalet is on the luxury hotel’s terrace until March 30. Anyone who has heard of it is welcome.

Having the slopes all to yourself

If you want to push exclusivity to the extreme, you can fly to pristine peaks like 007. There’s no martini waiting, but pure adrenaline – and immaculate deep powder snow for you to carve the first tracks in. Zermatt is considered real paradise for the flying ski community. Many providers will whisk you away to the untouched parts of the mountains. The run from the Dufourspitze is a classic and one of the longest in the world. Night owls have another option to have the slopes all to themselves: In the evening, they can be transported directly by the Meiringen-Hasliberg cable cars to the freshly prepared immaculate slopes, for example. Just as the snow groomers are heading back to the garage. Snow ahoy!
