A passion for traditional craftsmanship
At the tender age of 27, US engineer and watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones was already deputy director and managing director of one of the leading watch manufacturers in the USA at the time. At a time when most young men were trying their luck in the West, Jones set out in the opposite direction: As a pioneer and adventurer, his goal was to combine traditional Swiss craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques from his homeland.

Conviction leads to success
Despite all the resistance, Jones founded the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen in 1868. With the help of highly qualified Swiss watchmakers, modern technology and hydropower from the nearby Rhine, he produced timepieces of outstanding quality.
Timepieces that get collectors’ pulses racing
Even today, the now world-famous Schaffhausen watch factory combines passion and the most elaborate craftsmanship to create high-quality mechanical timepieces. IWC watches are still among the most popular in Switzerland and make every collector’s heart skip a beat. Yours too?
