Swisstainable Veggie Day
October 1 was the 45th World Vegetarian Day. Switzerland Tourism together with GastroSuisse and HotellerieSuisse supports a sustainable lifestyle with “Swisstainable”.

Vegetarian cooking was the name of the game at countless restaurants in Switzerland on October 1: On World Vegetarian Day, Switzerland Tourism, GastroSuisse and HotellerieSuisse called on restaurants, hotels, bars and pubs to create a separate daily menu with exclusively vegetarian menus. “Swisstainable” was the motto. So, the products should be seasonal and come from local producers, if possible. Thanks to countless dedicated chefs, the “Swisstainable Veggie Day” was a huge success – for the environment and guests. Because culinary enjoyment and sustainability do go hand in hand without any problems. All it takes is lots of fresh ingredients and a dash of ingenuity. You can find the restaurants that took part in the “Swisstainable Veggie Day” here.
Not only sustainable food, but also sustainable travel is becoming increasingly important. After all, we want to preserve Switzerland’s mountains, clean lakes and ancient forests for generations to come. We don’t even have to sacrifice comfort or exceptional experiences for this – quite the opposite. Our journeys will be even more attractive if we travel more consciously. At Switzerland Tourism you can read how Ivano, Kazu, Olivier and many others have embarked on their own personal “Swisstainable Journey” through Switzerland, drawing strength from nature and celebrating life.
